Travel Tip #3: For a Great View

When the hotel advertises they have the ‘best views’ and the scenery outside your window matters to you, I recommend asking the front desk clerk to see the room first before you pay.

This is the view we got and you can see they clearly advertise ‘great views.’ This was at a Microtel in Virginia.

Overall, we love most Microtels (I say ‘most’ because we have stayed at a couple that were not too nice) and this particular one we really like. It is very clean and of course, I love hotels that do not have those nasty bed covers! (Microtels feature white triple-sheets with a blanket in between.) And since we’re frugal when traveling for business, their prices work in our budget. So we were fine with our view because we got such a great laugh from it! So it did not matter to us. But clean hotel room or not, we never forget to cover up the remote! (see earlier Travel Tip #1 post here.)

  1. My husband said it wasn't the Microtel, it was Charlotte. He stated, "Tip #4, do not stay in Charlotte!" I have nothing against Charlotte since I have never stayed there. So I cannot verify or deny. But we have not had any poor experiences at Microtels. We really do love them and we've stayed at all the various chains across the country. You should try them out again! Thanks for reading!!

  2. LOL! Love the view! I've never heard of a Microtel, but I'll definitely check them out when traveling over spring break. LOVE the remote condom post! Such a good idea! I always carry disinfecting wipes with me, but the remote condom is even better.

Thank you for linking up with the Getting to Know You blog hop. Sorry it's taken me so long to stop by! Busy, busy, always =)

  3. lol I have only stayed at one once ~ we had to switch rooms first . The back parking was so scary we parked in the front. The police visited during our one night stay. It was the only time I turned around and left the continental breakfast empty handed. This was in Charlotte NC. I am scared of Microtel.

  4. Great travel tips – I read the one about the remote condom – awesome idea. I never thought about it but you are right – there are a lot of germs on those things. I'm visiting from the Getting to know you blog hop. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  5. What's wrong with the view… that looks like new composite siding… that stuff is awesome!
