They Say It’s My Birthday…

Yes, it is my birthday today. And it’s a good time to share something about Eric with you all. You see, Eric has a trait, a good trait I might add, that prevents him from lying. He really cannot tell a lie. Not even a small little fib. If someone calls and I don’t want to talk I tell him to say I’m at the store, but he simply answers and hands me the phone saying “I cannot lie.”

I know. This is a very good trait! Except at certain times. Like my birthday. It’s rare that Eric can surprise me. Because he was not born with the “sneaky gene” that I obviously have. One time I was walking upstairs and said, innocently, “What are you doing Eric?” He quickly turned, sighed with frustration, and replied “Gheeesh. I was hiding your Christmas gift, as he lifts it up, in plain view, up to my face so I can clearly see it. All he had to do was say “Nothing” and I would’ve continued on my way to whatever I was doing, not giving him a second thought!

So, I walked over to the table the other day and inquired about a new little basket he seemed to be working on. In true, I-cannot-tell-a-lie form, he said “Gheesh. I’m making a necklace for your birthday.”

It is really cute. I love it! But I wish he could learn to be a little sneaky. Just a little…
