From Brick-and-Mortar to Online

Many of you know that I used to work in advertising. For those of you who didn’t, well, I did. I was a Creative Director in Dallas, Texas during 9/11 and within a couple weeks after that, and after quitting my job, I headed to Chicago to spend time with my sister. By March of 2002, I bought a huge vintage and antique store up in Maine where I lived for the next 6 years. I have since sold my store and the building it was housed in for a less-rural life. I didn’t want to live in a big city again so I chose Manchester, New Hampshire. The perfect-sized city for me. And I soon met my husband, Eric and the rest is history!

Anyways, over the years, I really started to miss having that store! Since college, I have shopped at thrift stores and continue to do so. We avoid buying retail whenever possible. But on our self-employed artist budgets, we cannot afford my treasure hunting and “keeping” the items! So I finally went from Brick-and-Mortar to my online store at Etsy. I actually set up the store last November (yes, a whole year ago!) but did not list any items until two days ago. I wanted to build up a good inventory and I have many boxes filled up. I’ve already had two sales so I’m pumped! Great inspiration for a procrastinator like me!

So if you’re looking for unique vintage, antique, repurposed & refashioned, handcrafted, retro, upcycled or the fashionably quirky items, take a look in my etsy store: etsy.com/shop/theBasketmakersWife. Check back often since I’m always hitting the thrift stores while we travel. And if you’re looking for something specific, please email me! I’ll keep my eye out and let you know when I find it!
