Packing Paper Anyone?

This whole packing-up-the-house-and-moving thing is starting to really irritate me! I was okay with it the last few weeks but that calmness has wore off. My most favorite green distressed cabinet from Mexico where I store all my bar ware and spirits is now my “packing station.” So sad. And I’m sure many think this cabinet is sad. Don’t go dissing my most favorite piece of furniture. I bought this when I lived in Texas and I can never see myself parting with it.

When I had my vintage and antique store in Maine, I used this cabinet as a display for a few months. I had to remove it off the floor because so many people wanted to buy it! I knew one day someone would make me an offer I couldn’t refuse and I didn’t want that to happen. So it went back to my living space.

So why is this full of paper? I went on Craig’s List a few weeks ago and scored a whole ton (literally) of free shipping boxes and packing paper from a retired couple who just moved to New Hampshire from South Carolina. And I’m talking about the professional moving boxes and paper — not the cheap stuff. We made three trips (or was it four?) with the van to get all the boxes and paper.

Since I feel better having some semblance of organization, I decided to recruit my favorite cabinet. I folded a lot of the paper and separated them depending on weight and usage (some are for delicate glassware, some are for glass frames, and the shiny ones are for dishes, etc.) and stored them nice and neat on the shelves, making packing a lot easier. As soon as I’m running low, I simply go in the garage and grab a box (well, tell Eric to grab the box) stuffed full with crumpled paper, waiting for me to unfold and sort.

If only I could remember where I stashed my bottle of Tequila.

The Signature is a Hint

So yes, we will be moving. We cannot say exactly where since we will not be closing on the property until a couple weeks. In the meantime, we are frantically de-cluttering the house here in New Hampshire to get it on the market asap! Along with ripping up vinyl floors, painting walls and doing all the “fix-ups” that were on our to-do list for a couple years now!

But, I can give you a little hint on where we may be going. Do you recognize this signature on the basket below? If you do, then you know where we want to move to.
