I took this pic at our friends Karen & Eric’s home the last time we visited knowing I would use it as a post at some point. Since the last two weeks have been a little lack-lustre in terms of blog content, I thought it was a good time to use the image. If you’re looking for a blog that oozes “perfection” (like so many blogs do, but in my opinion, borderline obnoxiousness) then you won’t find it here!
For the past two weeks, I’ve been overloaded with “creative” freelance projects. By “creative” I mean ones that require me to think! I have had to do some logo concepting and product tags for a sports line, a new company branding project, promotional materials for an event and I’m also in the middle of designing and laying out a quarterly magazine.
Being creative under deadline is more difficult than you think. Usually, I get inspired at any old time, but when something is due in 8 hours, the inspiration needs to flow on demand, on target and be spot on. There’s really no second chances when it comes to creative presentations. You either hit it or you miss it. If the latter, they hire someone else. So for me (don’t want to make a blanket statement for all designers) new “creative” projects are always accompanied with a little stress when I begin.
Unfortunately, when my brain power has been overly utilized for my job, I don’t have much left for writing! So forgive me. And keep checking back for my ordinary posts on this most ordinary blog, from a very ordinary girl. Martha Stewart definitely does not live here either. And it’s a good thing!
I hear ya Lynn, she’s not here either. I need to find that sign for the Studio.
