The third day of Jackson’s first-ever road trip probably wasn’t as exciting as he may of wanted.
It rained in the morning and Eric had another busy class day with 14 students. We were able to get out and romp in the large field, but Jackson was a little restricted. After he bolted into the convention hall shortly after we arrived, I definitely didn’t want a repeat — especially since he was now a wet stinky dog! So he was on a leash.
And a little perturbed with me because he clearly could see that Chance was not on a leash and running freely. But he got me back because both of the dogs insisted on jumping in every puddle they came upon during our long walk. Why do dogs do that again??
Then mid-morning, the dogs and I had to head back to the hotel. I needed to work the rest of the afternoon so there was nothing for the dogs to do but play with some toys, chew on some dog treats or sleep. They pretty much chose sleep.
But occasionally, Jackson would awaken and look up at me with those sad big eyes. Looked a lot like the smiley face Eric left me on the window before heading to his class — happy to be next to me but sad he wasn’t outside running around chasing little critters that burrow in the grass.
However, I learned that Jackson is an excellent hotel dog! He settled right in and was very quiet despite all of us having “cabin fever.” Reiterates that homeless or shelter dogs, after adoption, are the best dogs ever! They really are.
