Here’s the skinny….
I was not on vacation. My laptop was…
Why?
I put the blog on vacation because of two things:
1… I had a big project to work on for a client over the last few weeks and it involved a lot of Photoshop work. Which meant I would need my wrist brace… if you work on the computer a lot, you know what I’m talking about… so I needed to focus on that…
Why?
Because my design work pays the bills. This blog does not.
2… I have been wanting to change my blog’s look for quite awhile now. So I told myself that I would go on vacation until it’s done. I didn’t think I would procrastinate for almost the entire month of June! So this ingenious plan backfired….
Why?
It’s been weeks since I posted….
Very neglectful….
Especially towards Mr. Basketmaker’s craft…
I did not finish the design change…
The blog’s look is currently a mess!
And a complete failure on my part to supposedly trick my procrastinating ways…
Not very genius-like…
(I can’t believe I thought it was a good plan…)
So ignore what it looks like in it’s current condition…
Why?
Because there are cut off boxes everywhere…
They don’t even line up…
And you really should never do white text on black…
And what do I have on the left? Yup, white text on black…
Like I said, it’s a mess…
So why not fix the design before posting again and suffering much embarrassment?
Excellent question.
Two reasons:
1… Web stuff drives me nuts. And I always insist on doing it myself instead of getting help or simply logging on to a pre-fabricated site and have it all done in minutes. And that third glass of wine tonight, as I was pulling out my hair and yelling out loud “I’m so stupid!”, did not help…
2… Actually, it really comes down to this…. it’s the last day of June and I did not post this month’s Calendar Girl Photo!!! (If I keep this up, I will have to pay them to produce their calendar next year…lol)
So here she is… Miss Gail Bice… the Calendar (Cottage) Girl for the month of June! Enjoy your 72 minutes of fame… Almost midnight and shortly it will be July… (sorry Gail)
And let me conclude this self-depricating post by pointing out that there’s definitely no nepotism in this family…
The two baskets Miss Gail chose to feature are Eric Taylor Baskets! Yes, the husband’s designs. I am a bad basketmaker’s wife…
Why?
Start reading from the beginning again…
(btw, my repeating of the word “why?” is a shoutout to my two-year-old nephew!)
