2nd Annual Redneck Bootcamp: Day 1

First day of Redneck Bootcamp with our nephew Ben did not start off very well. We were supposed to fly into Nashville by 11:00 am and be home shortly after noon to get an early start on the week’s activities.

However, Southwest Airlines put a wrench into our plans. Everything was going well leaving Manchester, New Hampshire after our family reunion up in Vermont. We made our connecting flight to Baltimore with no issues. But that’s where it stopped… We only MADE it to the plane. We then sat on that plane for well over an hour. And it was hot. And Ben was “famished.”

The pilot then announced that we were missing a part to the plane and they were waiting on some paperwork. Paperwork? Sounds like it was a little more than that.

Another 30 minutes, the pilot said we could get off the plane and wait in the terminal. We slowly stretched out of our seats but quickly made our way to an airport bar that was closest to the gate. We were not thrilled…

As you can tell by the looks on Ben and Mr. Basketmaker’s faces.

Then another hour later it was announced that this plane would not be taking off anytime soon. So we went back on board to gather our belongings and head to another gate and on another plane. And we also scored some free Southwest vouchers, which eased the pain a little…

Nonetheless, we did arrive safely in Nashville but very behind schedule. And we still had to pick up the dogs at the kennel. So that left us with enough time for Ben to put on his camo pants and shirt that he mailed to us earlier this month (so he didn’t lose or forget it!) and make his way to the backyard and get a fire going. Then sit back and hang out with his old pal Jaxson.

Then it was time for bed. We were all exhausted! A very long day. So Jaxson let us pull out the twin bed inside HIS little loveseat couch so Ben and him could sleep together again…

And lucky for Ben it has a twin pullout bed and it’s the only place he gets to sleep with his old canine friend, with his camo clothes still on as well!
