End of Daylight Savings Time Means…

pink-roses-october-time-2015

these will stop blooming…

Therefore I picked a bunch, arranged in a tiny vase and placed on my almost-cleared desk (photo taken with my phone in my somewhat dark office).

Despite their happy color, I get a bit somber knowing soon I will not be able to go outside my front door and pick fresh flowers. However, on a brighter note, the last few days of October always kicks me into an organization mode. I think it may stem from either 1) when I was a kid my parents most likely got us to clean our room by telling us we couldn’t go trick-or-treating until it was tidy and we had A LOT of work to do OR 2) when I was a kid I needed to clean everything up so I could find the best spots to hide all my candy.

Either way, it has become ingrained in my nature as some kind of instinct. Why I don’t get these “instincts” other times during the year is another story.

The best benefits from my October Organization? I’m in total decluttering mode…. which leads to a much-required mental decluttering… and I find things I thought were gone… or I find things I’ve searched for an entire year! Or I find things that make me wonder why I didn’t purge them last year. All of which boils down to a clear and happy mind. Which is vital if you’re someone like me and the upcoming stretch of reduced daylight makes you sad and not wanting to get out of bed some days.

So Happy End-of-October Organization! (and don’t forget about your clocks!)

  1. We are lucky in AZ as we don’t follow a day lights savings time. Part of the year we are same as Pacific time and the other part we are same as Mountain time zone. No clocks get changed. Gives us one more thing to think about though. As long as I know when NCIS and Northwoods Law comes on, I’m good to go! LOL!! 😜
