The Guts, Grits & Lipstick Ladies

I dropped the ball! Last year, friends Susan & Lisa attended a workshop as well as Jan & Emily. They didn’t know each other prior, but they soon developed a great friendship amongst themselves. If I remember correctly, I started calling them the TP Gals because every time I came in the workshop they were talking about toilet paper! So they were mortified that I was going to post pics on the blog calling them the Toilet Paper Gals and quickly created a name for themselves: the Guts, Grits & Lipstick Ladies.

But I dropped the ball! For last week’s workshop they signed up for, I called it “Autumn Gathering.” For this group… So Boring!!! First day of class they quickly brought to my attention how I forgot their name! LOL. So I immediately fixed it online and adjusted the class name for next year. So sorry ladies!

Just like last year, what a fun workshop. The weather was gorgeous here and the conversations and laughs were nonstop. And a new student, Julie, who never made baskets, was added to the mix. And she joined this group like they’ve been friends for years and they will all be coming back again next year. I promise not to forget your name this time!

Jan working on a Mountain Tub, Susan working on the Legacy Tissue basket and who knows what Lisa is doing (Just kidding Lisa!)
Julie hammering her cut rim pins on her Mail Basket and Miss Emily getting the first weavers in on her French Bread basket.
Susan finishing the bottom of her McMinnville Market basket and Jan grabbing weavers for her tub.
Miss Emily sanding rims for the McMinnville Flower basket. Julie weaving the Mail basket. And again, who knows what Lisa is doing. I see the Tool Tote Jr. on her weaving stand… (teasing you Lisa!)
Julie is doing some additional sanding on her 10-inch Legacy tub and Lisa is working! She’s packing the final rows of her Tool Tote Jr. basket (one of my personal favorites! On my coffee table holding tons of stuff.)
Miss Emily showing me a t-shirt from her friend’s store “The Old Farm Shed” in North Carolina. I checked it out online, such a cool store! I wish she had a shop here! Check her out @ theoldfarmshed.com
In the next two photos, she’s showing me how cute her waitstaff was at Sophia’s in Woodbury and then pics of her dinner.
Susan cutting rim pin nails. Julie working on a drill press for the first time. I took this photo for her so she could send it to her husband right away so he could see her using tools!
Eric getting Emily started on the McMinnville Flower basket. I told her it was too much math for me to figure that part out.
Yes, Eric does teach! LOL. I heard I don’t show enough pics of Eric doing what he does best.
Susan Jan and Lisa all with smiles on their faces (I had to bribe them to do that.)

Thank you so much ladies for coming here to middle Tennessee and taking Eric’s workshop. Susan & Lisa, Jan & Emily and now Julie. Glad to see someone new finding the craft of basketry! See you in December Julie for Eric’s Holiday class! And already looking forward to the whole group coming back next year.
