A Busy Night at the Makeshift Fire Pit

Before we leave for Mr. Basketmaker’s next workshop, we wanted to get all the moving boxes we piled up in the backyard out of here!

I found the boxes for free from a lovely couple I found on Craig’s List who moved from South Carolina to New Hampshire. What a score! Not only did we get tons of cartons, but also piles of expensive moving paper!

I thought we could pass the boxes on to someone else but they were pretty beat up after getting their second life. And not a lot of people moving out of Tennessee!! (lol). So we decided to burn all the large-sized and damaged ones  (boxes only – the paper we are recycling for all the shipping we do throughout the year).

And that’s what Mr. Basketmaker did last night. He created a large makeshift fire pit behind the house in a gravel area and spent hours burning the boxes. Right in the nick of time too — we discovered an extended family of frogs living under all those boxes we accumulated outside! Now that their shelter is gone, they can return to the nearby pond!
