Travel Tip #9: Hold the Chains, Please.

Eric and I travel all around for his work. When we are home, we like to stay at home. But when on the road, we will pick out a few restaurants to have dinner at. Not every night because we are on a starving artists’ budget of course.

So I’d like to share with you one surefire clue to look for when you’re trying to decide whether you should stay and order dinner or drive and look for another place:

If there is a chain and padlock on a cabinet behind the bar, and the waitress who is filling in has to look for the key, it’s probably a good sign you should not ask for any menus!
