Q: How was your Birthday today?
Eric: It was very good. And thanks for telling my students that it was my birthday because this afternoon they all sang to me.
Q: How do you think Jackson’s been doing on his first “basket” trip?
Eric: Other than the first day of him bolting and running loose in the convention hall, I’m rather impressed. Today he is very calm.
Q: So what do you think of this hotel we’re staying at?
Eric: We need to find a different one next year. It seems to be going downhill fast. Coffee maker is broke, there’s no fridge in the room, the ice machine on all the floors don’t work, the local high school has their band practice in the parking lot and I’m pretty sure the downstairs room is being used for AA meetings. Also, if we are going to bring two dogs again, we definitely need a room where the windows open to get some fresh air!
Q: How am I going to pack up this entire room by myself tomorrow and deal with the two dogs?
Eric: I’m looking at it and I have no idea how you’re going to do it but I’m sure you will figure it out.
(Not exactly the answer I wanted to hear!!)
Q: What annoyed you this week?
Eric: You telling everyone you could that it was my birthday today!
(Oh please. It could be worse.)
