Five Questions Friday: Caboodle

Q from Ben: What does your saying “the whole kit and caboodle” mean?
Eric:
Well, my definition is that it means a whole lot of stuff or even all your stuff. Where it came from, I’m not sure.
(well, in my brief research, I believe “kit” came from the military that contained all the soldier’s belongings and “boodle” was a group of things or people. So the saying probably morphed into “kit and caboodle” when someone was trying to organize a big gathering and  told people to “bring all they have and all the people they see” — kit and caboodle! Sounds better than ‘kit and boodle’.  Now this is not an official definition… just my guess!)

Q: So did you really like those frog legs you ate or did you just tell Ben that?
Eric: Ah no. The ones I had with Ben that afternoon were really really good. And Ben liked that the chef came out to talk to us. And then gave us some of his pulled pork he just finished up with.

Q: So what’s your take on the 2nd Annual Mr. Basketmaker’s Redneck Bootcamp?
Eric: I thought it was a lot of fun this year. And I know Ben enjoyed himself a lot.

Q: What did you think of my new “Toilet Tax” for Ben?
Eric: Ah that was brilliant! And it totally worked. You should explain it some time over the weekend.

Q: What aggravated you this week?
Eric: Not really an aggravation but I wish I had a little more time with Ben! And that your sister stayed longer. I had so much more I wanted to do.
(I feel the same.)

  1. I thought the toilet tax was a great idea and The notice was right up front so you couldn’t miss it! What do you think you might buy with all that income? Maybe some more wood for Bens tree house. Or did you get it all finished? I know he loves coming to visit you all!!
Have fun this coming week. Be sure and tell the upcoming class about the spare key for the B&B. 😱. They might appreciate that. They are gonna have so much fun!! Get your rest now.☺️
