A couple weeks ago my Auntie Marjie decided to throw a dinner party. She lives in Florida and my parents are there for the winter. Also, my brother, sis-in-law and nephew were visiting along with her son Joe from Missouri and one of their friends from England.
The menu? New recipes she found in the Cottage Girls Cookbook. And below are the pics my mom took of the dishes and the book page. First up is the Roasted Pepper & Artichoke Tapenade…
Next up was the Bacon Tomato Appetizers which I hear everyone loved.
The photo came out more brown because I believe she used wheat mini toasts and replaced regular bacon with turkey bacon. Good to know you can modify the recipe and it’s still yummy.
Then the Broccoli & Cranberry Salad that was voted the best salad ever! Here is my nephew holding up the cookbook next to the dish…
Simmering in the large pot is Mr. Basketmaker’s New England Fish “Chowda”…
She also made Eric’s Kung Pao Chicken which was a recipe from his mother. For dessert they made the Cream Puffs but my mom forgot to take a picture. However, in one of the photos, I saw them hovering in the background (below right).
I heard it was a fun night with great food. I see there was no shortage of wine either…
Thank you Auntie Marjie, Mom and my nephew for the photos!
Note: People ask me why I don’t show my youngest nephew on the blog. Simple reason. His parents are not on social media so if they don’t upload their son’s image online, I personally choose not to as well. My other nephews are all over the place so occasionally you will see a photo of them here and there.
I served shrimp scampi from the cookbook to my brother Richard and he loved it.
