As most of you know, we lost our dog Chance last Thanksgiving and then almost 3 months later in February, we lost Jaxson. It was devastating. It’s also been quite difficult getting back to my normal, fun, creative schedule which included this blog and my instagram page. I enjoyed posting photos of both of them and it’s hard to get back to posting without them here—especially missing Chance who was at my feet 24/7.
Hard as it was, we knew we needed to rescue another dog from our local shelter and give them an opportunity at a good life as soon as possible. So Mr. Basketmaker and I adopted a sweet little dog that has made it a bit easier while we grieved. We initially went in looking for a medium-to-large-sized male dog and we left with a twenty-pound female dog we named “Izzy Bella Moosestash”. As my friend Karen says about shelter dogs, “they will pick you” and she definitely did.
To us, she’s just about the most perfect dog and we can’t understand how someone would abandon her at a shelter. One thing she does not do is play. We have provided her with every toy possible to get her interested but nothing. She has yet to grasp the idea of “play.” So I decided to create a different activity that we could do together—I put her to work: Modeling Eric’s baskets and starting her own Instagram page.
Below is a snapshot of her posts so far…
At first she wasn’t keen being placed on the backdrop in front of a tripod and camera. But she’s starting to like the idea of not only getting both of our attention, but seeing what kind of treat Eric has in his hand.
If you want to follow Miss Izzy, visit @BasketMutt on Instagram. We’ve had lots of modeling sessions over my little break so plenty of new photos to be uploaded.
She looks sweet and love the pictures as long as she doesn’t do anything to the baskets. (LOL) As someone posted, believe she is getting use to pictures as she seems to pose.
Izzy seems to be getting the hang of modeling because she picked a good home!
Aww…. thanks Miss Sara!
AAhhhhhhh!!! She is the most adorable little bundle. She picked you guys alright smart dog.
Thanks Linda! And she’s very smart.
Think you have found a perfect model for the baskets. So happy she found you.
Thanks Anne
She needs a companion to teach her how to play.
Adorable. I have adopted 5 dogs and had to teach each how to play. Only 2 will play with each, the others it must be me!
So hard to lose one. Bless you for reaching out to another.
Thanks Karen. So sad that some dogs have never learned to play!
Oh Lynn and Eric, she is adorable! I bet she was most likely put there for your aid in the grief you were experiencing. They are truly a God-send to their humans. I’m happy for you both. I see a great modeling career ahead for her.

Thanks Donna!
