Having fun with the foster kittens.

(OOPSIES!!! I went to bed last night and saved this post as a ‘rough draft.’ Well, at least I thought I did. I made it ‘LIVE’ instead… and it was a mess! Sorry to anyone who read it! lol)

You know who loves it the most when we have kittens in the house? Well, not the house, the workshop that is. Answer: IZZY!

Honestly… Here’s the visual proof…

That was her on the second night they arrived. She laid down on the big bed and waited for the kittens to come to her. And they did. They chewed on her, they kissed her, she let them do whatever they wanted.

Here they are outside, about to be transported to the Vet. We surround the crate with a metal adjustable “kennel” (thank you Joanne Howard) and let the kittens have some fresh ‘outdoor’ time. Next to me is Izzy. And she is whining because she wants to be inside their space too. So I let her in with the kittens.

She puts her paw on one of them… “Move over, I’m coming in!”

And makes her way into this tiny crate with 6 other kittens. Right under the crate “hammock.”

Totally content hanging with the kittens. Notice in the next image, a kitten is in the hammock trying to get on top of her. Of course, Izzy is oblivious. She will choose a cat over a dog any time. And the kittens love her.

And I know she’s part of our success in getting these kittens adopted. She helps in socializing frightened and starving kittens—letting them know, “you can trust these people.” A very important job and she does it well.

Which bring us to the “fun” part. Eric and I enjoy taking pics of these kittens. And of course, they deserve the best! So we bring them into our photo studio. But this group of kittens… they were so hard to photograph! They were always moving! LOL.

Our favorite kitten was “Jack Daniels,” because he’s a hard ‘licker’ (named by Eric and I had to put that in here).

He was fun to shoot. The rest, not so much! But we worked at bringing out the best in all the kittens which can be difficult when they are extremely frightened and already had a traumatic journey in their short lives.

Here’s Jack Daniels again…

He says, “Look at these handles on Eric’s Legacy 10-inch Round Tub. Dude… you know how hard it is to bend one hardwood into a certain shape, let alone two hardwoods that are sandwiched together like this?”

And then we have ‘Reba’…

who is guarding Eric’s Legacy Hot Pepper basket.

Next up is “Mr. Stubbs.” He is the most friendliest out of this latest litter of 6. He didn’t require a color-coded collar to tell him apart because of his tail… he only had half of one. But I’m thinking he really doesn’t like Eric’s Napkin basket. He was putting up a fuss.

But “Ron Howard” seemed quite content in the same basket…

Which brings me to the McMinnville Tote. ‘Harry’ finally found a much roomier place to hang out in…

The first basket we placed him in, Eric’s Mountain Tub was a bit too tight…

But he seemed content… just chilling…

“Ron Howard” is either admiring Eric’s Desktop Keeper ‘SMALLS’ basket or wanting to devour it…

Then back onto ‘Harry.’ He had so much potential. But I don’t think his strong point is sitting still. Here he is with Eric’s Cruet basket.

Here’s… Oh I don’t know who now. We have never had a group of kittens that looked so much alike! Whoever it is, they’re scoping out the scene from inside Eric’s Towering Tote.

Then after the photoshoot, it’s time to put something together with their pics, names, weight, etc.

All the kittens are now on a transport to Massachusetts. Yah! Another group saved… now onto the next.

  1. Fostering is so needed. Good for you guys! It must be difficult to give them up. Love your Izzy too!

    1. It is sometimes. But we have two rescue cats. One of them was a mama with 3 kittens and we decided to keep the mama. She’s an awesome cat. We couldn’t part with her.

  2. Izzy has such a great heart for a terrier mix. She is so sweet. The pictures are gorgeous. I’m sure those sweet babies will get adopted.
