Stay-Cay With My MIL

Eric’s mom came to visit us for a week. I call her MomJo. And what do you do when your mother-in-law travels far so she can spend time with us? Well, I don’t know about Mr. Basketmaker, but for me, I took a little hiatus from my freelance work (and my blog if you haven’t noticed) and had a little relaxing vacation at home — otherwise known as a “stay-cay.” (Official definition from Urbandictionary.com: Instead of going somewhere for vacation [vay-cay] when you have time off, you stay where you are [stay-cay] and do the local scene.)

(Another FYI:  MIL stands for mother-in-law. In case there are a few of you out there that didn’t know what it stood for!)

As it turned out, the local scene for me turned out to be the front porch off of Mr. Basketmaker’s workshop.

What did I do? Well, before I started my ‘stay-cay’, first, we put her to work…

weeding….

picking herbs….

mowing the lawn….

(Hard to see her through our mini vineyard and the long grass! She’s so tiny!)

Basically we put her to work for about a day so I had I could wrap up some pressing deadlines with my freelance and then relax.

we played monopoly… (two rounds)

(Chance seemed to LOVE the porch stay-cay as well!)

put a large puzzle together…

finished the puzzle…

then went to the store and bought another puzzle and put that together too!

we sat by the fire… (no pic—it was dark out!)

ate good food… (no pic here either… too busy eating the good food!)

ate healthy food too! Brought momJo to my favorite health food cafe and she tried her first “mean green” juice! She said she liked it but I’m not sure if she was just telling me that…

So it was a great week vacationing at home with momJo.

But I got very behind with my work and posting on my blog of course. But it was ALL worth it!
